Finally a Reds Win!
November 2nd 2010 18:43
Just a quick review of this game I’m afraid………3 points at home against Blackburn is expected, so let’s not get carried away here. But hey ho a wins a win, but it’s about time and it’s not like we’re out of the bottom 3!
The team seemed nervous in the 1st half and this also seemed the vibe from the crowd as Paul Robinson (not the Australian man from Neighbours) put on a one man show to keep the scores level at 0-0 at halftime. Although all in all, it was quite a positive first half from the reds, compared to the rest of the season.
Moving to the 2nd half, Liverpool could only keep a lead for two minutes after ‘The Big Greek’ Sotirios Kyrgiakos gave the Reds a the lead after 48 minutes. This was due to an ‘assist’ from Konchesky, Jamie Carragher diverted the ball into his own net, but this did give Blackburn an undeserved equaliser.
Luckily enough for the reds Fernando Torres buried a well placed Joe Cole cross 3 minutes later – and that was enough for a 2-1 win! Luckily enough for a certain Mr Hodgson, Blackburn didn’t really turn up and seemed happy for the game to pass them by.
OK, let’s look at some negative facts:-
1) Another 1st half with no goals scored. Only against Sunderland this
season has a first half goal been scored.
2) Krygiakos is now our top scorer in the month of October! Nothing
against him, but we need goals from elsewhere.
3) The managers tactics are still questionable
4) A lot of the players seem to be disillusioned
5) We are not scoring enough
6) We are letting in too many goals
7) We are still in the bottom 3
8) We still have a manager I have no faith in
And the positives?
1) Torres’ has got a goal under is belt, hopefully a confidence booster
2) We got 3 points
3) Poulsen wasn’t in the starting XI
4) Jonjo Shelvey seems to be one for the future.
So for me, although 3 points are in the bag, in my eye's the jury is still out on our manager! Let’s see where we go from here!!
