Tigers on the ropes after loss to Students

As the end of the regular season draws closer, Northern Tigers are in a position they didn't expect to be in.
Currently languishing in ninth place on the ladder, they need to win most of their remaining matches to have any chance of making the Super League finals series.
Last year's league winners and grand finalists slumped 1-0 at Mills Park to cellar-dwelling Sydney University in a lacklustre encounter that may signal the end of this year's campaign for the outfit.
"We may have to look to next year if we don't start winning," coach Hugh McCrory said. "It's disappointing for us. It's not the season we were hoping to have."
If the Tigers don't make the finals, it will be the first season in McCrory's three-year reign at the club they haven't finished in the five.
The Scotsman was dismayed with the result, but thought the Tigers played well but "didn't create enough" and "lacked intensity".
"We've got to go into damage control a bit."
The match was an altogether lacklustre affair for the spectator, and it was again a matter of finishing for the men in green and white, as they had the majority of the few chances in the match. The Students were able to take their chance, with James Alcorn netting the game's only goal, to move further away from the bottom of the ladder.
The North Shore outfit have struggled to find regular form this season, with injuries and suspensions not aiding their cause.
By contrast, the Tigers under 20s reserves side remains at the top of the table after a good win over the Students.
The Tigers' future is in good hands, and with only five regular games left and the senior side fighting a losing battle with finals chances, that might be where the club focuses its immediate attention
